I think this game will really be bad because of so many FO players knowing that Hoardings can get you alot of coinage and stuff in the future... they will even use alts to hoard.
My idea to prevent this: Limited amount items, just a suggestion.

limited in what way? limited meaning we only have like 20 items in game? or limited in that you can only hold onto a small number of items?

What's the problem with hoarding? If a person holds on to a particularly rare item they don't need, and the item gets more valuable with time, they should be able to sell it at a ridiculous price. It's what collectors do.
We've also already discussed alts, haven't we? A limited number of chars per person and only one-or-so account per IP?

First of all, that is a flaw in any game. That is actually a flaw in real life. a 1976 corvette sold for 3.2 million not too long ago. Runescape released a huge quantity of party hats which dwindled down over time and are currently the highest-priced items in the game. Is there a solution? Well not an obvious one. limiting the freedom that players have will not solve anything. I would personally just create an account to house the other items that you are restricting me from keeping. Solve that one. The only real solution is to not create any rares items or items that will be discontinued after a certain time. We'll see what the team has up their sleeve for this one though.

I personally like having something to work for. If you have a really rare item you want you should be able to work for it.
Otherwise what's the point of collecting millions of coins to spend on nothing? Lol. Having rare or opportunity items leave players something to work for. So hoarding items is, natural I guess, I mean if something is worth something anyone will do it.
Edit #2 : I think he's just suggesting not breaking the economy I guess.

We shouldn't be able to trade at all as well. And be paralyzed and just use the game to talk. Facebook Quest yo.

To be fair, people continued to know that in FO, and the majority of people still continued to not hoard for profit We need hoards to rival those of the magnificent dragons and/or magpies!

unrelated, I haven't noticed that supporters have golden eggs related: don't understand the suggestion really, or many of the comments... I believe this discussion is pointing towards rare or discontinued items affecting the economy. I actually really like what Archangel said. I agree there needs to be rare items so we have goals even after achieving the highest level of PvE or PvP. I know a lot of games had rares and I know I reference this a lot, but Runescape recently decided to release a rollback on their servers to a 2007 version. Keep in mind that the original game and the 2007 version are completely different despite sharing the same accounts. The original game started dropping party hats for a 2001 christmas event. At this point, there was an abundance of these hats and everybody used them as trash items. As time went out, hats started to disappear as people died and lost them, quit (with hats on their account), or got banned. There hats were never released again until a dupe was found. That was quickly patched. As the years went on, these hats started to increase. They now sit as the highest priced items selling for far more than a signed int value (2147483647). In this new 2007 version, they removed these rares as everybody knew what would happen. It did happen to an extent but stopped as they released more hats every holiday season. I think they took the wrong stance on the matter and should have reintroduced the hats. Rares made the game fun. I quit not too long after they rereleased the hats and caused them to crash. Were the hats a problem? I don't think so. They complained the economy was a tilting scale where the people who knew how to manipulate it could accumulate large amounts of money in a short period of time. That's true. Here's the other side of that: no matter what you do, there will always be people who know how to get on the better half of that tilt. That's because we feed off the other side. There is no fix for feeding off the gullible. Rares are not really the cause of this scale tilting. Merchanting is profitable with or without discontinued rare items. As Archangel said, we need rares to have a goal beyond raid items. Rares are truly the only endgame material.

a lot of games with economy (read almost all games with economy) have collectors item, whether it's planned or not. it's just how economy works, and there's not much to do about it. there's always gonna be hoarding because you just don't know when the demand for certain item might rise, or get discontinued/changed for whatever reason. and RPG games in general have huge hoarding potential, not just for merchanting, but you might think 'oh i might need this item sometime later'. that's why I said i don't really understand the suggestion, because you cant just tell people 'no hoarding, okay!'. it's just something that is bound to happen, and i was hoping that OP would clarify a bit more about his/her suggestion...
and archangel edited his post later, and I agree that there should be some coin sinks, and there most likely will be.

Hoarder tax perhaps then? The longer the item's laying in your vault, the more you pay. Just throwing out ideas, don't take this one seriously, lol!

Hoarder tax! great idea! you do that and I'll put all my money in another account. Try taking money from somebody who is poor . Minche, I didn't understand his suggestion either. There's a lot of ways you could read "Limited amount items." Overall, what is your stance on rares minche?

I have said this before somewhere else around here but I like the idea that rare/discontinued items come back, but with a version number. This allows for rare items to exist (lower version numbers would be more rare) while still allowing others to get them for the style. Some people might pick a few items and try to get every version number or some people might try to get v1 of all items. I see nothing wrong with hoarding. If you all saw my bank in FO you would have been proud to see all the crap I collected over the years. Most knew I had so many rare items simply because it was fun to show them off every once in a while. I think the problem FO had was that people demanded too much content and Gamer tried to satisfy. Making everything in game rare eventually. People knew this and so when something cool came out, everyone bought to hoard and sell later watering down the market.
