This is just a thought but maybe FO Legacy could also be available via tablets on the app store or whatever. I remember on FO I always wished I could access the game when I didn't have my computer on me. I mean, it doesn't have to be cross-platformed but it could be optimized in such a way that mobile carriers aren't disadvantaged. Just a thought

Unity does support mobile. Once the game is complete up to the point of a release I was planning on doing a few exports to test what it would be like on mobile.

I would like to get as much coverage as possible. We will probably start on our own site with both web player and download. Shortly after moving out to sites like kong while trying stuff like steam greenlight.

As of now ill say ad free. But that is only because I'm expecting it to be supported by micro purchases.

This will ensure financial support parallelling microtransactions , allow for purchases and provide an economic safety net in the case of unfortunate events. Advertisements are generally unnoticed anyways.

Like a small ad here and there would be fine with me, and it would provide some money to the game. If people dislike ads then you could always implement and option to pay a price to play ad-free. I'd say ads are pretty reasonable especially in the games early stages.

They also have a number of issues though, aside from not being guaranteed to bring in any sort of acceptable income, there are frequently questionable advertisements that crop up on them. Even if you get told it can't happen by the provider, it will. It's something we would have to look into in far more detail, nothing is ever as easy as it seems (I wish it was)

Thing is is this, IMO, micro transactions can be good if you only have to do em once, ie £2.00 if everyone who played paid that is easy money to pay, and would yield a lot. Maybe £2.00 a month even?? But when it starts with 50 pence for this then 50 pence for that, that will soon add up to a lot more than £2.00 per person, even than per month. I think you are far more likely to get more players doing £2.00 a month than the 50p way of doing things. Any game that uses micro transactions just to continue, or get something done, or get ahead in the game I don't play. That's why I enjoyed FO so much even though I did pump some money in.

Being forced to pay to play monthly doesn't sound like a very good idea imo. That would probably turn off a lot of people from the game, in fact it would probably do the exact opposite of what you said, "I think you are far more likely to get more players doing £2.00 a month than the 50p way of doing things." FO's system was more pay to get ahead, and it worked well. That way you could play just as anyone else would and, if you needed a boost, you can choose to pay a little money for an exp or money boost or whatever. A monthly fee to play sounds a bit drastic to me. Keep it completely free to play with the option to pay just as FO did.

A few games have monthly subscriptions, so it's not impossible and it's on the list for discussion. Chances are the main source will be micro-transactions though yes, we've mentioned it a bit in some other threads, but we do want to avoid it being a pay to win, so we'll be exploring what sort of things should be bought with premium currency, and ways for people to gain it for free by playing (granted it taking longer than if you bought it with real money).

I've played some games where there was a subscription bought with the premium currency, and benefits were small and optional, like having priority over other "free" people to join server if it's full, an additional daily reward, and things like that that doesn't really affect free players.
