No. The games are separate. In my opinion, it was a mistake to even call this forum FO Legacy.

No. The games are separate. In my opinion, it was a mistake to even call this forum FO Legacy. This new game came after the forum was created. This board was originally intended to keep the FO community together after it went down. You're right about the games being separate though. But there still could be some sort of item to commemorate FO - don't take my word for it though, heh. We're still a long ways away from any sort of playtest.

This was called FO legacy as a place for people to talk about FO. I kinda hijacked the forum when I asked if the other staff wanted to help me make a game.
Most likely there will be some item that early players will get. I would most likely do something like have an end goal in the beta and if you complete the goal you get the item. Something like solve a specific quest, reach a specific level...something to show that you at least spent some time in the alpha/beta. After alpha/beta the goal will go away so as to make the item unobtainable. I guarantee it will not offer stats (read: cosmetic) and most likely be non-tradable. Items that are given as gifts from staff/me for the purpose of saying thanks will most likely always be non-tradable. If I say thanks and you give it to someone else then why should I make an effort to offer something in the first place if you didn't want it.

i must comply on the fact that i would love it if this game was made and it became really popular and then only we who were on the forum before a certain point would get something like "the purple shirt" or some silly item that shows that we were there from the beginning but in all fairness wouldn't that make the game start off with a bad taste of "we have our little group of a select few who might have been lucky to get in beta and a kinda taunt to those who didn't?

I like llama's idea for an item, but honestly I don't think that anything should be necessary. If you want to help the game to become successful by testing for bugs and making good suggestions, then help out! If not, then don't. If the prospect of having a limited edition item to show off somewhere down the road is your motivation for helping out, then you probably aren't going to be that helpful anyways. The item itself should be a bonus, freely given by the staff to show their appreciation, not something demanded by alpha testers as compensation!
Not trying to point fingers, just stating an opinion on what I see as an annoying request that is being brought up a lot.

Nothing should be given. I mean.. This isn't going to be FO. This is going to be a new game. The benefit is getting to play the game with your old friends and talk to them.

In my opinion, if anything should be given, it's a forum title or something like that. Nothing in game that players can hold above their head saying "Muhahah! Pay me billions!" No, nothing like that.
