Basically just asking whether it will be items released for a week and never again like FO? Or items permanently available except a few from anniversaries etc? I don't mind either and sorry if there is another thread about this, don't want to mindlessly scan through a few pages. :/
Thanks, ex-IGN:chessmestar

This hasn't been determined yet. While I like that items go away, most don't (at least by the number of complaints). But then how do items get rare if they are always available? I have thought about having items that go away temporarily, but when they come back, they are marked (not on the sprite, but they description) as a re-print essentially. Meaning that later you can get the same look, but if someone were to inspect you they would see that it wasn't a version 1 of that item. Giving higher value to the older revision of an item. I also think that there should be some items that there are a limited number and they just go away after a while. Sort of like a signed print. You have a limited number, like 100 of an item, number each sale and specifically mark it as a one time offer so people know which is going to be rare and not.

I think some items should be something like FO. They would be avaible for certain time, but i think they can come back in future for people buy again.

Problem with that is an item that was considered rare is now worthless because anyone can buy it. I can hear (see) the rabble now.

I like the concept of items returning so nobody really misses out, tho i don't think just labeling it a different version in it's description is enough as it can still have a big impact on the previous version's prices.
Maybe you could make them slightly different in look and name? Ex: Version 1 is called snowboard. Version 2 would then be called snowboard II and have a different tint, maybe be hold in a slightly different stance? Simple to alter and could help maintain previous version's prices ^^

Quick side suggestion: the ability to trade PRIVATELY. I remember in FO your items would always get sniped if you put it on the market for a friend in need. So maybe a public market and a private trade option would be nice.

Indeed, direct trading will be greatly appreciated.

I like the idea of limited print items, and re-prints. Marking/tinting, etc. can make value without making it so players can never get them.
An example in FO is the golden pickaxe. If the original had been available for a month, and had a shiny tint, then not available for a month, then released again with a non-shiny tint (but having the same functionality)... that would have worked well and caused less rabble I think. Also important is saying beforehand: "this is what will happen" so people don't make terrible investments based on assumptions (which happened a lot in FO and caused a lot of grief I think).

I kinda liked that we didn't know what was going to happen, kept investments interesting, you could make alot of cash or lose alot. And yap it probably did cause alot of grief except for the people who invested correctly, those got the other's money ^^

I liked the uncertainty too, a little. I remember seeing crap that I thought "it's stupid" and 6 months later was going for multi-mil and been on the other end too with "that's cool/cute, it'll sell for a lot" and it was worth like 100k after 6 months and never really got popular. I guess I wasn't the only one who thought that though and so everyone bought.
And in the case of something that gives stats/abilities (pickaxe...etc). I would probably do something like make reprints only give like 90% of the stats (and maybe even later reprints for slightly less). That way there is some benefit to purchasing early. I think this is a good idea especially for limited run items. You reward those that purchase first, and the nerf isn't really enough to make people rabble (though I have seen rabble for less). As long as you are clear, I would think people would be fine. You would need to specifically say "There are 1000 limited edition of these for sale this month. Each one is numbered and there are 543 remaining. After MONTH, they will only offer 90% stats."

Each one is numbered and there are 543 remaining. After MONTH, they will only offer 90% stats." Think about the new players: Want the item? Screw you, you registered late, you get the nerfed version. What, still want the item? Then work your socks off and TRY to convince an older player to sell it to you (Odds: Probably won't happen). Of course, saying that no one is willing to get rid of the item in benefit of someone else is obviously an exaggeration, people still value rarity more than utility, that's why rare ingredients taste "better", and it's the same reason you don't get rid of otherwise useless stuff IRL ("Just think about all the money I'd make were I to sell this in the future!"). If you made a good item, and want it to return but still be valuable, make different versions (Just change a detail of the name, people still eat that one) of the SAME item as reprints, or make it a little more expensive/difficult to obtain in the next release, to make people work for it if they want it. For example: Dual Flaming Scythes of the Golden Llama Tribe '14+99 everythingPrice: Uber Seasonal Quest RewardThen, next year you have: Dual Flaming Scythes of the Golden Llama Tribe '14 '15 +99 everything Price: Uber Seasonal Quest Reward. Quest item drop rate lowered/1 more quest item required.(Though actually telling players "After X time, Y item will go Rare" is a nice idea. Saves you a ton of complaints)
