Accounts will be stored in a database (SQL? @ iamallama) that is accessed at the request of a client (whether it is web-based or desktop). You could see this as a cloud if you feel more comfortable with that term. Your data can be accessed from any acceptable terminal. Player files will not be saved on computers due to the simplicity of value editing and character trading. If you look at Call of Duty, they used to save their data on your computer (until WaW). Data was publicized and everybody had the same stats as they shared the maxed data files. Call of Duty was easily hacked as well through the use of cheat engine. I believe Llama explained earlier, the clients will just be a remote control which sends command packets to the main server. At that point, the packets are logged heavily and processed. The server will then respond to your client. There is no chance data would EVER be stored on your computer.

mvp I'm still trying to figure out what most of that had to do with OP's question. They were just wondering if your account would be the same on the download version as the web version. And Eugoth, yes, they will be the same account. An account created on the web will work for the download version and vice versa.

iamallama I said almost exactly what you said in a more detailed and exemplified way. Both the web client and desktop client will link to the same server which has the stored accounts on a database (such as MySQL). You would never have player files stored locally (I hope) due to easily accessible value editing that would occur.

mvp it doesn't matter if player files are stored locally (that almost never ever happens, unless you're hosting local server). and even though most games use the same db there still can be differences between accounts, say steam and download, or web and kong, and so on. and what you're saying about editing files and such is a completely different issue.

As long as I get to have a username with Angel in it, I'm fine.
