If the pets die, there will have to be something to "program" the pet to not attack/avoid conflict, so it doesn't get killed if it's wounded.
But yeah - I agree that a Pokemon-style pet "fainting" thing might be better if the pets can lose (or have) HP.

If pets assist you in a battle, I'd like them to be used as a meatshield too, so, they have to die. They could just faint, like pokemon. it could be like once they faint if they go by that there should be a penalty time before you can use it again

Dunno what you plan with pets, but they have to die and help you in a battle. Pay to revive them, use a spell, or anything.

Feed them the heart of your enemies, that'll rise them from their grave No, but that sounds like a good idea, cost for revival like maybe gold, or some of your own mana, or something like that.

If added, start simply with the "follow and add some sort of stat/bonus" then build off of there.

I love the idea of pets and it can be done in two ways, simple stat bonus's which would be ez, or the healer with a bear meat shield, or a tank with a turtle blowing healing bubbles. The in fight pets would be the most enjoyable option but dam the game balancing devs would have to work out.

At least not healing ones, or if they do, it should be minimal. Just... make them attack, simple and clean. Pet skills could be added later.

How about we start off with making them follow first. Attacking/casting/anything else makes them much more complicated.
